Kingsman part one and Two

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the complements to the surprising success that occurred in Kingsman: The Secret Service, which was a very funny satire of spy movie tropes with serious undertones mixed with it. It knew when to be serious and when to be so serious it was funny. That, besides some perfect cinematography, made this brilliant film a thoroughly pleasant movie. This movie has all of these good things as well, but while still fun it just comes off feeling like a lesser imitation of the original.

Kingsman and Guardians of the Galaxy

2017 had another one of these complements repeat the same form with lower results, namely Guardians of the Galaxy part 2. Curiously, the two original movies (Kingsman: The Secret Service and Guardians of the Galaxy) appeared in 2014 with both complements coming out this year. But, that's not to tell that Guardians part 2 wasn't enough fun, and The Golden Circle has a huge amount of fun as well.

Kingsman The Golden Cycle

The movie finds the Kingsman on the receiving end of a tough Julianne Moore as Poppy, a head of a drug cartel who needs all drugs to be legalized. Her influence: her drugs will kill all of its users, of which there are hundreds of millions around the world. With the Kingsmen's UK resources damaged, it's up to Taron Egerton's Eggsy and Mark Strong's Merlin to team up with the Statesmen, the United States information service featuring Jeff Bridges' Champ, Channing Tatum's Tequila, and Halle Berry's Ginger Ale.

There are fast-paced, well-shot action scenes and the standout being the taxi tracking at first. The dialogue is funny, but it hits a few sour notes along the way, especially in its parodying of a certain political character which comes off as ham-fisted and forced.

Criticism for Part Two

The speed of this film is a problem. At 2 hours 21 minutes, it absolutely feels too long, especially when there are one too many big set pieces that feel like they should be the stage for the end of the movie but end up being not.

Finally, there's a right method and a wrong method to do connect to the previous movie in a sequel. No problem to be over, as long as it's balanced with other, more superfine references as well.Unluckily, The Golden Circle tends to pound you over the head with callbacks with the first part, including splicing in footage from the first part in a literal way in reference to characters who are assumed to be important, but for the life of me you may be could not remember where they popped up in the first part unless you watch it another time before seeing this one.
